Our Story
Where It All Began
Picture this: weekends filled with the aroma of Nonna's cooking, homemade olive oil glistening on fresh bread, and the sound of wine being poured as the extended family gathered. After long meals filled with laughter and stories, everyone would gravitate toward the old piano.
It was here, nestled on Papa's lap, that young Petrina's voice first rang out. "Petra! Petra!" he would call out proudly, recognizing something special in his granddaughter's voice. Those golden moments—surrounded by family, music, and unconditional love—became the heartbeat of everything de Lucca International represents today.
A Legacy Born in Lucca
The de Lucca story begins in the rolling hills of Lucca, Italy, where music flowed through our family, with the bloodline going back three centuries.
Petrina’s grandfather, Alfredo de Lucca, carried forward this extraordinary musical bloodline, bringing it to Australia sharing the operatic traditions with his children & then grandchildren.
The Heart of Our Mission
When Petrina lost her beloved Nonna at 13 and Papa at 16, those joyful family gatherings became precious memories. But rather than letting the music fade, she chose to carry forward that spirit of connection and joy.
"That's what music is about," Petrina reflects. "Family, connection, laughter, love."
This philosophy shapes everything we do at de Lucca International. We believe in breaking away from the rigid hierarchy of traditional classical music, instead creating spaces where music serves its truest purpose—bringing people together in celebration of the human experience.
